EMD UK sponsors fitness categories at the Community Fitness Awards

EMD UK was proud to be sponsoring the online Community Fitness Awards for a second year, this time for three of the categories, as a number of its member organisations and group exercise instructors were among the finalists.  The Awards recognise not only the instructors teaching in the community, but also the supporting businesses and inspiring participants and are a celebration of the relationships formed and support given. They are also an opportunity for those within the industry to showcase themselves and their business

Claire Goodliff, Managing Director at Community Fitness Network, and her small team plus supporters worked hard to take a live event and turn it into a virtual evening of entertainment and celebration.  All this on just one eighth of the budget proved to be their biggest challenge, but despite this, the Awards evening ensured that instructors understood their worth and the event was a chance to celebrate that.

Claire told EMD UK ‘We were delighted to be able to run the 2020 Community Fitness Awards in spite of all of the barriers that 2020 threw at us. We had an overwhelming amount of high quality nominations and every person is a winner. We are happy to be able to give community instructors the reward and recognition they deserve.’

Huge congratulations to all the nominees, and winners and runners up on the night, including CanDo Hub UK who were runners up in the Inspiring Young People category, and Sam James who was runner up in the  Inclusive Award 2020.

There was a clean sweep for EMD UK member organisations in the Dance Brand 2020 category with Rockfit  winning and Clubbercise as runner up.  One of our Founder Members, FLexercise,  took the title of  Non Dance Brand 2020.

Underlining what these awards mean to every group exercise instructor,  Alison Bailey of FLexercise commented ‘We are still buzzing after last night’s Community Fitness Network awards!  Thank you to everyone who voted for us, we really are over the moon!  Huge thanks also to Claire and her team for putting together a brilliant event. It’s been a tough year for everyone . . .  we are all winners!’

Many regional group exercise instructors associated with EMD UK were also recognised during the Awards evening.  Sam Nicholson was the winning Regional Instructor Wales and the Regional Instructor North West winner was Suzy Clayton Jones.  Regional Instructor South East was won by Louise Jordan and Anna Martin won Regional Instructor London and also the Contribution to Community Fitness category, recognising ‘the support she selflessly provided for instructors during the past 8 months.’

Sarah Leeves, Marketing Manager at EMD UK, who was invited to be one of the judges said ‘It was an honour and a privilege to sit on the judging panel for this year’s National Community Fitness Awards.  This year, more than any, has shown the versatility, dedication and passion of community fitness instructors and the huge role they play in the physical, mental, and social health of the nation.  Claire’s passion for community fitness truly shines through.  Thank you, Claire, for making this happen.’
