EMD UK and the Health Fitness Academy partnered to improve access to fitness careers in the Greater Manchester area
Please note that the Breaking Barriers Through Movement pilot is currently running its first partnered training course and, therefore, is not accepting applications at this time.
The initiative took 20 women from underrepresented communities across Greater Manchester and supported them through the nationally recognised Focus Awards Level 2 Group Exercise (Exercise to Music) qualification, delivered by the Health Fitness Academy ‘by women for women’, to give them the skills and training they need to support the community as group exercise instructors.
The course was 90% funded by EMD UK, the national governing body for group exercise, to encourage improved diversity across the group exercise community.
All successful applicants also received a free year of EMD UK Student Membership, which provided them with cover to practice teaching whilst training to become an instructor (full price usually £55).
