EMD UK Pro Enhanced Membership

No, EMD UK Pro Enhanced membership, which includes insurance coverage, is available to any practising exercise, health, fitness and wellness professional.

You can benefit from a Pro Enhanced membership and all the benefits it provides, including £15m public and product liability, £10m professional indemnity, additional insurance coverage, bespoke resources, training opportunities, events and access to legal assistance, tax advice, health and safety advice and stress counselling.

In order to qualify for this level of membership, we will need to view and approve your professional qualifications for your discipline, which will normally be a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.

For our Pro Enhanced Group Exercise membership and Pro Enhanced PT & Specialist membership, you need to hold: a formal Level 2 CIMSPA accredited fitness qualification or equivalent as a minimum to validate your instructor insurance and professional recognition.

If you do not hold a formal qualification and branded training only (i.e., Zumba, Clubbercise, Fitsteps etc.) or dance teaching qualification, then you would need to choose our Pro Enhanced Associate membership which gives you the same level of insurance cover and Pro membership benefits, just without the professional recognition from EMD UK.

Pro Enhanced Membership includes £15 million public and product liability, £10k professional liability, £2.5k personal property cover, accident cover, online class cover, studio and outdoor class cover.

Yes, all our membership with insurance packages include insurance cover for teaching online classes, this includes one-way or two-way video streaming, including pre-recorded. There is no upper limit for the number of participants you can have in your online class.

Yes, all our EMD UK Pro Enhanced membership options include insurance cover for teaching classes outside.

Our Pro Enhanced membership does not set a maximum class size with regards to insurance cover. However, instructors are responsible for maintaining a duty of care at all times and must follow any class size limits defined within their training or qualifications.

Unless your class is a parent and toddler class, you will not be covered. Also, you will need to hold the appropriate qualifications for working with children under 5, and would need to have a current DBS, infant first aid and safeguarding children training. 

Our Pro Enhanced membership covers participants aged 16 and over. To teach anyone under 16, you must hold a relevant qualification in children’s fitness for the specific type of class you deliver.

Yes, all our membership packages cover instructors to teach abroad if on a non-permanent basis, as well as teaching participants who do not reside in the UK. If you have any questions about the duration of your teaching abroad and whether it affects your cover, contact us and we will clarify with the insurers. 

No, all instructors must reside in the UK.

We offer a range of membership packages to support you. So, if you already have insurance cover elsewhere, that’s fine. You can sign up as a Community member or a Pro member instead.

If you are an EMD UK Pro or Pro Enhanced member, you will receive your new Pro certificate and insurance certificate, if applicable, on the date that your renewal starts. You will not receive either certificate in advance.

This information is not applicable to EMD UK Pro Enhanced Associate or Pro Enhanced Student Members.

You will be able to access your Pro certificate or insurance certificate by logging into the EMD UK membership platform and navigating to your Memberships section. From there, click the three dots at the end of your active membership and if your membership gives you access to a Pro certificate or insurance certificate, you will be able to view and download it there.
