Supporting Professional Growth Through Funded CPDs
Group exercise instructors – and our would-be training partners – may be wondering about our Funded CPD programme and how it works. Taking advantage of the opportunities offered by our Funded CPD programme can open new doors for you.
Our Account Manager, Carrie, has been giving us the lowdown on the ones that are offered by EMD UK:
What is the Funded CPD, Carrie?
The Funded CPD programme is there to help instructors access further training at a reduced cost. It supports eligible learners with funding towards CPD courses, making it more affordable for instructors to upskill, develop their knowledge, and explore new training opportunities.
Who can apply?
Qualified instructors wishing to take group exercise CPD training courses from our eligibly partners can apply for our funded CPD programme.
What do you mean by ‘qualified’?
Instructors must hold one of the following qualifications in order to be eligible for the funding and CPD programme:
• Level 2 Fitness Instructing
• Level 2 Group Training to Music
• Level 2 Group Training
• Level 2 Exercise to Music
• Level 3 Yoga
• Level 3 Pilates qualification
How much is the Funded CPD amount?
The Funded CPD programme allows learners to claim 65% towards the cost of their CPD, delivered by one of EMD UK’s CPD partners.
Do learners have to pay for all their training up front?
No, once they have been successful in their application to the funding programme, they will then claim the 65% discount, so they only pay 35% of their course cost direct to the training provider.
‘I’m already qualified, why do I need more training?’
We get asked this quite often. Undertaking a CPD course or training opportunity is a great way of expanding your skillset – you could offer a wider variety of classes or open up new employment opportunities.
Which organisations offer training with the Funded CPD Programme?
All the information is here, along with a list of eligible partners, eligibility and how to apply.
Sounds good to us, but what if people can’t get to the training courses on the dates given?
There are a variety of ways to access the training. Many of our partners offer live in person training, live online or on demand training.
Do I have to live in England to access this Funding Programme?
We now offer a separate funding programme for instructors teaching in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Details can be found here.
What about if instructors want to teach the new classes long-term?
Some training providers offer a membership option so that instructors have access to new choreography, others might offer quarterly workshops that can be booked as and when required
What about branding?
As well as having the back up of an established and recognised group exercise brand, some training providers will provide guidance, marketing materials and clothing so instructors can really feel they belong.
Have you got any feedback from people who have taken advantage of the Funded CPD Programme?
We certainly do! Diane W completed the Purestretch training recently – ‘I am always looking for ways to improve myself as a teacher so the funding was a great opportunity for me and really easy to apply for.’
The EMD UK Funded CPD Programme provide benefits for both group exercise instructors and for EMD UK Partner offering training.
