Keep Fit Association Celebrates 70 Years
Our founder partner, the Keep Fit Association, is celebrating 70 years of movement, community and Laban Dance fitness at their National Festival on 6 June 2026.
The Keep Fit Association (KFA), one of the UK’s longest‑standing movement and dance fitness organisations, will celebrate its 70th Anniversary National Festival on Saturday 6 June 2026, bringing together hundreds of participants, teachers, volunteers and supporters from across the country.
Founded in 1956, the KFA has championed creative movement, community wellbeing and Laban‑based dance fitness for seven decades. This year’s Festival marks a major milestone in the organisation’s history, honouring its legacy while showcasing the energy, inclusivity and innovation that continue to define the KFA today.
Hosted at Albert Hall Nottingham, the Festival will feature large‑scale performances, creative choreography, demonstrations with apparatus, and opportunities for members of all ages to take part. The event also celebrates the intergenerational spirit of the KFA, with performers ranging from young adults to participants in their 80s and 90s.
“This Festival is a celebration of everything the KFA stands for—creativity, community, and the joy of movement. For 70 years, our teachers and members have built something truly special: a national network where people feel connected, supported and inspired through dance fitness. We are proud of our heritage and excited for the future as we continue to champion inclusive movement for all.”
A Celebration of 70 Years of Movement and Community
The anniversary theme, “Moving Together- Connections through Dance,” reflects the KFA’s enduring commitment to accessible, expressive movement grounded in the principles of Rudolf Laban. We’ve been moving together not just in rhythm, but in relationships that strengthen communities and uplift lives.
This 70th anniversary festival will celebrate the thousands who’ve danced side by side, building a legacy of joy, resilience, and shared purpose. As we honour our past, we continue to choreograph a future where movement brings people together—body, mind, and heart.
“As the Keep Fit Association celebrates an incredible 70 years of inspiring people to move, connect and thrive, we are proud to recognise the passion, dedication and community spirit that have defined the KFA, one of the founder partners of EMD UK. This milestone is not only a celebration of the past, but a powerful reminder of the impact movement has on lives across generations. We wish everyone a truly memorable National Festival and look forward to continuing our valued partnership with KFA, championing inclusive, joyful movement for many years to come.”
