It’s time to talk Warwick and we don’t mean Dionne.

Set upon the idyllic River Avon, Warwick is a county town with its roots firmly in England’s green and pleasant history. In fact, there were people living in Warwick as early as the Neolithic period; that’s about 12,000 years ago.

Steeped in natural beauty and architectural splendour, Warwick boasts some wonderful tourist sites, not least of all Warwick Castle. One of the largest historical events in Warwick history was the Great Fire of 1694. Many parts of the town were destroyed, meaning most of the buildings in Warwick’s town centre only date back to the late 17th and early 18th centuries.

Warwick Castle celebrated its 1,100th birthday in 2014. That’s a lot of candles and one huge cake.

Over 800 narrow boats visit Warwick every year, mooring up to take a glimpse at the county town’s offerings. In the height of summer, that’s one crowded waterway.

Warwick is the perfect break for anyone with an interest in history, buildings and/or castles. The tranquillity of Warwick adds to its historical charm and your course wouldn’t be complete without taking yourself to Warwick Castle and soaking in the history. If you’re feeling a little more active, you could try your hand at archery, quad biking or shooting over at Warwick Adventure Sports.
