Funding Criteria & Conditions
To be eligible for funding, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must hold one of the following CIMSPA Accredited qualifications:
- Level 2 Fitness Instructing
- Level 2 Group Training to Music
- Level 2 Group Training
- Level 2 (DFQ) Exercise, Movement and Dance
- Level 3 Personal Trainer
- Level 3 Yoga/200 hours yoga qualification
- Level 3 Pilates qualification
- You must upload a copy of your certificate as part of the application process. Applications without this evidence will not be approved.
- Be able to demonstrate how the training will increase participation or improve the retention of participants within the group exercise industry, particularly among underserved communities, thereby promoting inclusion and reducing barriers to access.
- Be actively teaching in your identified area within 1 month of completing your training.
To be eligible for funding, you must meet the following conditions:
- Funding is offered on a priority basis, against the outlined criteria, and is subject to availability.
- Applications will be reviewed and prioritised as they are received. Priority will be given to instructors living in or delivering in underserved or disadvantaged areas, using the information provided on the application form
- Application to be received by EMD UK at least 7 working days before your course start date. Applications sent after this time may not be accepted.
- Funding will be open in 6-monthly blocks. Once the funding has been allocated during that funding period, it will be closed until the next 6-month block reopens.
- You can apply for two funded CPDs in total. However, only one application may be submitted within any consecutive 12-month period.
- You can only apply for funding towards one CPD per application.
- The course you are applying for must start within the same funding period.
- You will adhere to government guidance issued with regards to group exercise.
- You will adhere to industry regulations on the use of music in public places (eg PPL & PRS).
- You will hold the relevant professional insurance for your activities and provide us with evidence of such insurance
- You must be a member of EMD UK
- If you are working with children, young people, and/or adults at risk and this meets the threshold of ‘regulated activity’, you must possess an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Scheme Check carried out within the last 2 years Regulated activity with children in England and Wales – GOV.UK / Regulated activity with adults in England and Wales – GOV.UK
- You will hold a valid First Aid Certificate dated within the last 2 years or have adequate first aid cover in place where you teach
- You will abide by EMD UK’s Code of Conduct.
EMD UK reserves the right to amend the eligibility Terms and Conditions at any point without prior notice. Funding is subject to availability.
