School Games Competition Toolkit

The School Games, which is funded by Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, is a government led programme designed to deliver competitive school sport to all young people.

A network of School Games Organisers (SGOs) and Local Organising Committees (LOCs) have worked alongside the Youth Sport Trust in delivering three distinct levels of competition since the Games’ inception in 2010 – ranging from intra – inter school activity, in addition to the National Finals, which is supported by National Governing Bodies.

Youth Sports Trust and EMD UK have worked together to create toolkits enabling primary and secondary schools to run their own dance competitions. These are:

  • Level 1 : Support and guidance on how to run a competition within your school (primary and secondary)
  • Level 2 : Support and guidance on how to run a competition for your local authority (primary and secondary)
  • Level 3 : Support and guidance on how to run a competition for your county (primary and secondary)

Young Leaders Training

EMD UK is dedicated to providing high-quality training opportunities for both existing instructors and those just starting out. We recognise that young people make excellent and inspiring role models for their peers and we provide opportunities for them to grow and develop their skills.

Our Intro to Dance Fitness programme for 14 – 16 year olds is a two-day practical course gives young people the skills, knowledge and confidence to #StandAtTheFront and deliver dance fitness sessions to their peers under supervision. Not only will our training give them the skills to deliver sessions to their peers but we’ll also provide them with free Future Pro membership to support them beyond their training, helping to kick start their instructing career.

Let’s Get Started…

Group exercise is an exciting and diverse mix of styles and activities that caters to ‘someone like me’ and everyone should have the opportunity to take part. EMD UK is committed to driving positive change within the industry and we believe that through cooperation and collaboration with industry bodies, understanding and removing the barriers that prevent people from taking part and by supporting instructors to deliver excellence, we can achieve a healthier nation through exercise.
